Mayweather still hot favourite to make easy work of McGregor

When it comes to the UFC and MMA, Conor McGregor can walk the walk just as well as he talks the talk, but when it comes to boxing, Floyd Mayweather Jr. still runs the game.

After a whistle stop tour of Los Angeles, Toronto, New York and London, many would argue McGregor scored a unanimous victory with a microphone in front of his mouth.

However, our odds compilers don’t care about sound bites. They tend to go on cold, hard facts and our traders aren’t for turning. We still make Mayweather 1/7 to win, with McGregor a quite large 4/1 outsider.

That’s quite understandable when you consider this is his first professional boxing match and Mayweather is one of the most talented fighters to ever lace up a pair of gloves.

‘Money’ is 4/6 to win by KO, TKO or Disqualification, and considering the vast difference in experience and skill, it would be quite the shock if he didn’t finish the Notorious quickly.

The Irishman has given some remarkable interviews over the course of the tour, though, that would have you believing he is more than capable of flooring one of the most talented defensive boxers of all time.

A bigger man, with a greater reach advantage and stone-cold knockout power, anything is possible – at 6/1, it’s probably worth a small, speculative punt.

By all accounts, though, this really should be a straightforward victory for the American. Anything else in terms of a result would be galling for one of the most decorated boxers of all-time.
