Marco Verratti has a new agent – and it’s Man United’s favourite man

Manchester United may have already spent over £100m this summer, but the Red Devils are still seeking a midfielder.

They’ve tried and failed to both Eric Dier and Nemanja Matic, but now Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti could be the one for Jose Mourinho.

The 24-year-old has reportedly got himself a new agent, and it’s none other than Mino Raiola.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku have all been guided to Old Trafford under the Italian super-agent in the last 12 months.

So of course the press have put two and two together.

But there’s more to it than simply just a new agent.

Jose Mourinho really is after a central midfielder, and Verratti is one of the best on the continent.

And at 24-years-old, he’s far younger than the Portuguese’s other target, Nemanja Matic.

Plus, though he may be 18 months older than Dier, Verratti is vastly more experienced than the Tottenham Hotspur man.

The Italian is primarily a central midfielder, as opposed to a defensive mid, but if Jose can’t secure Dier or Matic – and it looks that way now – then Verratti could well be the best option.

So he should – and reportedly was – a Man United target anyway. The arrival of Mino Raiola should only help smoothen a deal.

Mourinho’s second season at Old Trafford kicks off in three weeks, and the Red Devils are 10/3 third favourites to win the league for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
