Man United & Tottenham could move in on Douglas Costa’s Juventus deal

Douglas Costa’s move from Bayern Munich to Juventus appeared all-but done a fortnight ago.

The Sun reported that a £35m deal had been reached two weeks ago, but as yet no agreement has been concluded.

And now it’s believed that the Italian giants want to pursue Thomas Lemar from Monaco instead.

It leaves Bayern in a bit of a pickle as they are happy to sell the winger, but they may now struggle to secure that £35m.

But the news is good for three Premier League heavyweights.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked with Costa in the past, before Juventus emerged as the frontrunners.

While the Citizens have already moved to sign Bernardo Silva from Monaco, United and Spurs have been very quiet so far this summer.

United could sorely use Costa’s creativity, having painfully struggled to break sides down last summer.

And concerns remain over Tottenham’s strength in depth, especially now they are to embark on a move to Wembley and another Champions League campaign.

Erik Lamela is set to miss the start of the season too, so Mauricio Pochettino really could do with bringing in an extra face or three.

Costa has been with Bayern since 2015, scoring 14 goals in 77 appearances, winning back-to-back Bundesligas.

Prior to that, the Brazilian secured five Ukrainian Premier League titles during a six-year stint with Shakhtar Donetsk, netting 37 goals from 191 games.
