Man United shock favourites to re-sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Manchester United are now just even-money shots to be Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s next club.

Yes, you did read that right.

Despite Jose Mourinho not extending the Swede’s one-year deal at Old Trafford – which expired at the end of June – the 35-year-old now looks set to rejoin the club where he spent a hugely successful 2016-17.

Ibra recorded 28 goals and 10 assists in 46 games for the Red Devils last term, including a double in the club’s EFL Cup Final victory – as well as goals against fierce rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.

However, while many of the Old Trafford faithful (including Ladbrokes News’ resident United fan) would be delighted to see Zlatan return, a move to the MLS could well still be on the cards, with 11/10 for the Malmo native to join any club stateside.

Zenit Saint-Petersburg are next in the market, though they follow a huge gap, with 12/1 on offer for the striker to head to Krestovsky Stadium.

Elsewhere, it’s 16/1 for the veteran hitman to move to the Chinese Super League, with moves to former clubs Paris Saint-Germain and Malmo priced up at 25/1 apiece.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “It looks as though Mourinho isn’t content with just the one blockbuster addition to his front line this summer, with a return to United for Zlatan now looking more likely than ever.”
