Man United firm favourites if Stoke City keeper exits this summer

Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland described Manchester United as “the biggest club in the world” earlier this week, and our trading team aren’t ruling out the possibility of the Potters man swapping Staffordshire for the Stretford End this summer.

There’s currently 11/4 on offer for the 24-year-old to join the Red Devils before the window closes, making the Europa League holders favourites in this market for the first time.

And if David de Gea finally makes his much-rumoured move to Real Madrid this summer (currently 6/4), odds of the Bristol-born stopper heading to Old Trafford could quickly plummet.

Despite missing almost all of last season through injury, Butland has managed an impressive 14 clean sheets in 39 games since the beginning of 2015-16, as well as featuring for England. So it’s no surprise Jose Mourinho is keen.

However, Stoke fans could be heartened by the fact that United are the only suitors they’re likely to be fending off this summer.

Chelsea and Arsenal were both heavily linked with the talented keeper earlier this year, but are now 10/1 and 12/1 respectively for his signature.

Meanwhile, West Ham United are 16/1 to lure Butland to London Stadium, with Liverpool rounding out the market at 25s.
