Liverpool and Everton set to go head-to-head for Inter Milan striker

Liverpool and Everton could be set for a transfer tug-of-war for Inter Milan youngster Gabriel Barbosa.

The 20-year-old Brazilian wonderkid joined the Italian giants last summer but has found game time limited at the San Siro.

The £26m capture from South America clocked up just nine appearances in Serie A last season, and scored once against Bologna.

Prior to that the youthful forward had an impressive record in his homeland, where he netted 24 goals in 83 appearances for Santos.

Now Inter appear ready to cut their losses, with Mersey giants Liverpool and Everton both on the radar.

Ronald Koeman’s Toffees have not been shy of flashing the cash this summer, and Barbosa would represent a significant coup from under the noses of their city rivals.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp’s Reds appear open to a loan move for the goal-shy youngster with Milan keen to get a return on their investment further down the line.

Up to six other Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in the forward according to the Daily Star. But a move to a club in Europe would attract Barbosa, leaving Everton and Liverpool as frontrunners vying for his signature.
