Joe Hart to West Ham odds continue to fall – now 1/2 favourites

They haven’t done much yet, but West Ham United could be set to make their biggest signing of the summer.

Pablo Zabaleta is the only arrival so far, but the odds suggest Manchester City’s Joe Hart is nearing a move to the London Stadium.

The East Londoners endured a wretched campaign last time out, falling far away from their superb seventh-place finish in 2015-16.

As good as Darren Randolph and Adrian are, signing Hart would undoubtedly be an improvement in a key position.

At 9/2 a month ago, the Hammers’ odds have been trimmed time and time again as a move for the England international looks more and more likely.

Just 7/4 last week, our traders clipped that into 5/4 over the weekend, before the Irons became odds-on favourites at 1/2 early this week.

West Ham remain one of only a handful of Premier League options for Hart, who isn’t wanted by Pep Guardiola at Man City.

A move to Everton was dismissed when the Toffees signed Jordan Pickford, and a move to Manchester United looks unlikely with David de Gea set to stay put at Old Trafford.

It says much about Hart’s Premier League chances that Aston Villa are second in the betting at 7/4.

And following the Villans are top-tier returnees Newcastle United at 3/1.

With Chelsea next up at 10s, West Ham, Villa, and Newcastle are the three major players for Hart’s signature.

The latter duo shouldn’t be ruled out, especially if they can offer Man City a permanent deal.

That’s where West Ham may come unstuck, as it’s believed they would prefer a loan deal for the upcoming season, before a potential purchase in 12 months time.

But from Hart’s perspective, they look like the best option right now.
