Javier Hernandez on verge of move to West Ham United

Published:

Reports have been circulating in the media this morning that West Ham United are on the verge of landing former Manchester United striker, Javier Hernandez.

The 29-year-old has been plying his trade in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen the last couple of years but now looks set for a return to English shores.

Remarkably, it seems to be only the Hammers who are in for the Mexico international. When you consider the price tag of just £17m – peanuts compared to some of deals this summer – it’s a relative bargain for a striker that guarantees you goals in this league. In fact he guarantees you goals wherever he goes.

With 37 goals in 108 appearances for Man United, seven in 23 for Real Madrid (on-loan) and 28 in 54 for Leverkusen, ‘Chicharito’ may well prove to be West Ham’s best signing in years.

With United still a little light up top, and Tottenham relying on the underwhelming Vincent Janssen should anything happen to Harry Kane, it’s surprising that none of the league’s elite clubs have come sniffing.

Those who snooze, though, lose. Slaven Bilic has been desperate for forward reinforcements all summer so if this deal manages to get over the line, the Croatian and Hammers fans will no doubt be ecstatic.
