He’s Wimbledon champion again, and now Federer is US Open favourite

He really is quite something, that Roger Federer, and the Swiss maestro is now an eight-time Wimbledon champion.

With Marin Cilic battling his own injury woes, Federer was never troubled as he sauntered to yet another title at SW19.

Nobody even managed to grab a set off him during the entire tournament, and it’s now 19 Slam victories for the man many regard as Tennis’ greatest.

But the question is, what next?

Federer turns 36-years-old in three weeks’ time, and even he cannot deny the hands of time.

For now though, he looks pretty assured at the top of his game.

And our latest US Open odds suggest he isn’t finished winning Slams in 2017.

We make the Fed Express 9/4 favourite to bag a third Slam of the year, following his successes in Australia and England.

And it’s his old rival Rafael Nadal who is second in the betting at 7/2.

The odds highlight the current struggles for Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic, who are both enduring dismal seasons.

We’ve got the Serbian at 5/1, with Murray the outsider of the big four at 11/2, as he was for Wimbledon.

It remains to be seen where Federer goes from here, having been very selective so far over his schedule.

The rejuvenated Swiss has entered just seven tournaments this year, compared to 10 for Djokovic and Murray, and 11 for Nadal.

But he looked as brilliant as ever at Wimbledon this year, and we’re struggling to find a reason to bet against Federer winning a 20th Slam at Flushing Meadows in September.
