Hamilton shortest price yet for F1 title after Silverstone stunner

Lewis Hamilton was at his supreme best to win a fifth British Grand Prix this weekend, and a slice of luck along the way has put him in pole position for the championship.
After disappointments in Austria and Azerbaijan, Hamilton was in a class of his own at Silverstone, taking pole position, leading every lap and taking the win.
And the Mercedes ace received a further boost when title rival Sebastian Vettel suffered a tyre failure on the penultimate lap, leaving the Ferrari pilot down in seventh.
What it all means now is that the German holds just a one-point advantage at the halfway stage of the championship.
But according to our traders and their latest odds, it’s Hamilton who has the upper hand.
We make the three-time champion 8/15 favourite to secure this year’s title, his shortest price of the season so far.
As for Vettel, the former Red Bull ace is now the outsider in this duel at 13/8, having been odds-on at various points in the year.
But he hasn’t won a race since Monaco in May, and has finished off the podium in three of the last four events.
Next up is the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest. In theory Ferrari’s shorter wheelbase should excel in a fortnight’s time, as it did at the similarly twisty Monaco.
But no driver has a better record at the Hungaroring than Hamilton, who has always thrived at the venue, and holds an outright record of five victories.
So it’s no surprise that it’s the British contender who will head into round 11 as 8/11 favourite, with Vettel on the back foot at 4/1.
