Froome odds-on for Yellow Jersey, but he’s not home and dry yet

Chris Froome’s Tour de France hopes threatened to unravel at the weekend, but now the Team SKY rider enters the final week as odds-on favourite for the Yellow Jersey.

A broken spoke on Stage 15 cost the three-time champion nearly a minute to his rivals, but our traders remain confident that he’ll win a fourth Tour at 4/11.

There’ll be no let-up for Froome however, with four riders all within striking distance.

Each of Fabio Aru, Bardet Romain, Uran Rigoberto are within 30 seconds of the leader, while Daniel Martin is 72 seconds behind.

The Tour has never seen such a competitive fight for the General Classification at this stage in its entire history.

Aru is in second, but it’s Romain who our traders fancy to be Froome’s toughest challenger, at 9/2.

It’s 9/1 Astana’s Aru overturns his 18 second deficit, while Uran is 10/1 to claw back 29 seconds.

Martin is the 33/1 outsider, behind Froome’s team-mate Mikel Landa at 25/1.

So not only does Froome have contenders looking to usurp him at every turn, but there are a couple of devilish stages still to come before Sunday’s finale in Paris.

Stages 19 (Wednesday) and 20 (Thursday) boast mighty climbs, with Wednesday’s trip from La Mure to Serre Chevalier featuring some of the most iconic and toughest stages on the Tour.

This is where this year’s General Classification will be won and lost, and that’s a thrilling prospect with so many riders still in the mix.

Elsewhere, Simon Yates is homing in on the Young Rider Classification at 1/5, while Team SKY are the same price in the Team’s contest.

Marcel Kittel is 1/6 for the Green Jersey, while Warren Barguil looks assured to be named King of the Mountains at 1/25.
