Friendly watch: Man United v Man City and Chelsea v Arsenal

Published:

With the Premier League season just three weeks away, pre-season is very much in full swing.

And there’s a particularly eye-catching batch of friendlies taking place over the next few days.

So to get you up to speed, here’s the who, the where and the when…

Manchester United v Manchester City – Friday 21 July, 02:30

We’ve got ourselves a Manchester derby this week, although it won’t be the most intense clash between United and City.

It will be a hot one though for this International Champions Cup clash in Houston, where we’ll get our first look at how Romelu Lukaku fares with his new team-mates up against Premier League opposition.

Chelsea v Arsenal – Sat 22 July, 14:00

And hot on the heels of the north-west derby is an all-London affair in China.

Don’t expect a rematch of the hotly contested FA Cup final though. Chelsea have one eye on completing the signing of Alvaro Morata, while Arsenal have reportedly come down with food poisoning.

Both sides are in this year’s International Champions Cup, but for reasons unknown, this friendly is not a part of the competition.

Juventus v Barcelona – Sat 22 July, 23:00

Two European heavyweights will take part in New Jersey, as Juventus play Barcelona.

It’s both sides’ first friendly of the pre-season, and all the attention will be on Neymar, and the much-talked about move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Paris Saint-Germain v Tottenham Hotspur – Sun 23 July, 01:05

Speaking of the French giants, they’re in action too this weekend, against Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs have been very quiet this summer, short of selling Kyle Walker to Man City, so there won’t be any new faces to see for this clash in Florida.
