Done deal? Real Madrid and Mbappe in £161m world-record transfer

He’s the most sought-after player in the game right now, but it looks like Real Madrid have won the race for Monaco wonderkid Kylian Mbappe.
Reports from Marca in Spain this morning claim that the La Liga champions have agreed a £161m deal for the 18-year-old.
And it’s believed that Mbappe has turned down Paris Saint-Germain’s £200,000-per-week offer to join Real on £120,000-per-week.
If true, then the move would smash the world transfer record, currently held by Manchester United and their £89m signing of Paul Pogba 12 months ago.
And it also smashes any hopes Arsenal held of securing the teenage star.
Mbappe has been with Monaco since 2013, after a stint at France’s prestigious Clairefontaine academy.
He made his first-team debut shortly before turning 17 in the 2015-16 season, going on to make 14 appearances that year.
But it was last term where the striker really emerged on the scene, netting 26 senior goals and supplying 16 assists as Monaco won their first Ligue 1 title in 17 years.
And any fears that he isn’t ready for the big stage were dismissed when the Frenchman hit six Champions League goals from just nine games.
They included strikes against Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus as Monaco reached the semi-finals.
Mbappe’s performances quickly alerted the attention of Europe’s elite, and Real have long-been linked with a move.
Having sold Alvaro Morata to Chelsea – cashing in £55m – it now looks like Mbappe to Real may actually be done and dusted in a record-breaking move.
