The 2017 Formula One campaign reaches the halfway stage at this weekend’s British Grand Prix, and it offers Lewis Hamilton the chance to kick-start his title challenge.

Hamilton lost more ground to Sebastian Vettel on Sunday in Austria, and now heads to his home event with a 20-point deficit to regain.

A five-place grid penalty for a gearbox chance ruined Hamilton’s hopes of victory at the Red Bull Ring, following on from a loose headrest which denied him the win in Azerbaijan.

It means the three-time champion has won only one of the last four races, finishing behind title rival Vettel three times.

As we highlighted earlier this week, Hamilton’s recent run of bad luck has seen Vettel move into 10/11 favouritism for this year’s championship.

But all is not lost. Hamilton remains an Even-money shot for this year’s crown, and victory this weekend would be the perfect way to get back on track.

And Silverstone has been a happy venue for the Mercedes ace in recent times, having won each of the last three races at the Northamptonshire track.

Add in his masterful victory in 2008, and the Brit is eyeing a record-equalling fifth British Grand Prix win this Sunday.

Our traders make the Stevenage-born race 10/11 favourite for the win, with Vettel next up at 9/4.

But it’s Hamilton’s team-mate Valtteri Bottas who could prove Lewis’ toughest challenger.

The Finn – winner in Austria – sits just 15 points behind his Mercedes colleague in the standings, and is an outside punt for the championship at 16/1.

He’s gone well at Silverstone in the past, finishing second in 2014, and is 7/2 to claim his third win of the season on Sunday.
