Brighton just 1/2 to sign Chelsea forward but Southampton keen

Chris Hughton is battling to boost Brighton & Hove Albion’s Premier League survival hopes this summer. And he could be on the verge of a huge step in the right direction, with 1/2 on offer for the Seagulls to sign Chelsea prodigy Izzy Brown this summer.

The 20-year-old spent the second half of 2016-17 on loan at Huddersfield Town, scoring five times in 21 games as the Terriers won promotion to the Premier League and reached the Fifth Round of the FA Cup.

However, it now seems he’ll be on the side of one of their newly-promoted adversaries, with Brighton hot favourites to make him the latest addition to their ranks – with £8m believed to be the youngster’s asking price.

But while Hughton looks set to get his man, our odds-crunchers still aren’t ruling out Southampton pipping them to Brown’s signature.

Mauricio Pellegrino’s side are 4/1 to sign the Blues talent this summer – and having done business with the club to sign Oriel Romeu back in 2015, that could give the Saints a foothold in this transfer tussle.

Huddersfield are next-best in the betting, but in truth they look unlikely to reunite with the player this summer, at 12/1, while Newcastle United and West Ham United close out the market at 16s apiece.
