Big Orange ripe for more success at Glorious Goodwood

Published:

The time is nearly upon us. We’re just a couple of weeks away from one of the biggest and most exciting racing meetings of the year – Glorious Goodwood.

With five thrilling days of action to look forward to, we’ll take a brief look at the biggest races and examine the antepost betting.

Qatar Goodwood Cup

With the news that Aidan O’Brien’s Order Of St George will miss this Group One biggie in Sussex, our traders had to act quick and slash the odds on Big Orange from 7/4 right in to 11/10.

Michael Bell’s six-year-old is going for a record-breaking third successive win and was rightful favourite anyway, before the aforementioned Order Of St George was pulled.

You can get a huge 10/1 on anyone else winning the race.

Qatar Sussex Stakes

We can’t get enough of Richard Fahey’s Ribchester for this Group 1 renewal.

The four-year-old colt has improved markedly since winning at Royal Ascot last year and with odds of just 4/5 on him in a twenty-horse race you can see our traders are taking no chances.

With the likes of Aidan O’Brien’s Churchill, Roly Poly and Wuheida all involved, though, Ribchester might not have it all his own way but still should be good enough to bag the win.

Qatar Nassau Stakes

Winner of the English and Irish 1000 Guineas, another Aidan O’Brien-trained horse is in with a big chance of victory here with Winter the 7/4 favourite.

The daughter of Galileo steps up to ten furlongs here for the first time but the Coolmore trainer has said he has no worries about her stepping up to the plate.

You can get 4/1 on the next two in the betting, Queen’s Trust and Nezwaah.

Qatar Stewards’ Cup

Roger Charlton’s Projection heads the antepost betting here at 10/1. The four-year-old ran excellently at Royal Ascot last month with a third-place finish in the Wokingham and connections fancy him to go even better here.

He’ll have stiff competition from Godolphin’s Culturati, who has won his last three consecutive races. You can get a quite thick 12/1 on the four-year-old to add a fourth win to his belt.
