Like a storyline from your favourite TV drama, Virgil van Dijk’s on-off move to Liverpool may be about to take another shocking twist.
Reports are circulating this morning that Chelsea have come swooping in for the Southampton defender.
Our traders have reacted this morning by cutting his odds of moving to Stamford Bridge from 16/1 to just 4/1.
The Reds were as short as 1/5 to finally bag their man but odds have now drifted out to 4/9 amid the rumours.
The Merseyside outfit still look in pole position to land the Dutch international but with Antonio Conte needing centreback reinforcements after John Terry’s departure and Kurt Zouma’s exit on loan to Stoke City, a move for the ex-Celtic man might just be in the works.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Conte might be doing his best to dispel the rumours, but punters are having none of it and have piled into Chelsea’s odds accordingly.”
