Wings Of Eagles replaces Cracksman as Irish Derby favourite

Wings Of Eagles has switched places with Cracksman at the head of the Irish Derby betting following support today.

The shock Epsom Derby winner is now 2/1 from 5/2 ahead of Cracksman at 9/4 and Waldgeist at 7/2.

Meanwhile, Master of Ballydoyle Aidan O’Brien is odds-on at 4/6 to train the winner of this weekend’s Irish Classic.

That could well look like easy money given the number and quality of O’Brien’s intended runners. As well as the market leader he’s currently down to saddle Douglas Macarthur, Capri, Venice Beach, Taj Mahal, Spanish Steps, Finn McCool and The Anvil.

And following on from his 1-2-3 in the Coronation Stakes last week, O’Brien has been priced at 10/1 to repeat that feat in the Irish Derby.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “Cracksman and Waldgeist are Aidan O’Brien’s two biggest threats in Saturday’s Irish Derby, but with eight of the twelve runners, he is odds-on to win the race for a twelfth time.”
