Who is Manchester United’s latest target Anderson Talisca?

Anderson Talisca isn’t a name many will be readily aware of, but that’s all set to change according to the latest reports.

It’s claimed Manchester United are homing in on a £22m deal for the Benfica midfielder, having already signed Talisca’s team-mate Victor Lindelof.

The 23-year-old has shone on-loan at Besiktas this season, notching 17 goals and six assists from his attacking midfield role.

In doing so, he helped the Turkish side win their second successive Super Lig, sparking incredible scenes of celebration in Istanbul.

Talisca particularly impressed in Europe, where he conjured four assists and two goals as Besiktas made it to the Europa League Quarter-Finals.

The Brazilian U23 international began his career with his native Bahia quickly impressing during one season with the senior side.

His performances were enough to tempt Benfica to splash out £4m on the then-20-year-old in 2014.

And he quickly settled to life in Portugal, playing 44 times in all competitions, producing 11 goals as Aguias landed the Primeira Liga in his first season.

Talisca found himself out of favour in the following campaign however, starting just six league games all season.

In a clever move, the Brazilian sought first-team football elsewhere, and his fine year in Turkey has put him back on the radar.

For Man United and Jose Mourinho, Talisca would offer an alternative to Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial.

Similarly, he can play in a more central role too, to possibly ease the burden on Paul Pogba in the middle.

And with his contract expiring in 12 months’ time, Benfica will likely cash in this summer.
