Royal Ascot day 5 tips: Khairaat and fellow favs to fight back

The end is near but before we bow out from this year’s Royal Ascot meeting there are still six sizzling contests to look forward to.

The Diamond Jubilee Stakes is the feature race on Saturday while The Queen could once again be left toasting her Hardwicke Stakes hero Dartmouth should he follow-up last year’s success.

Overall, we reckon the punters are set to gain further revenge on the bookies with some likely types ready to go to post.

Let’s go back in for the final day…

NAP – Khairaat – 15:05 Royal Ascot

We backed Sir Michael Stoute’s Khairaat to come good at Chester last time out and boy did he deliver.

A four-and-a-half-length success on the Roodee brought up the hat-trick and we’re backing champion jockey Jim Crowley to steer his mount to the four-timer in this year’s Wolferton Handicap.

The strength of that Chester race can be questioned, and a 13lb rise is noted, but this horse looks like he still has more to come.

Kidmenever and the in-form Mythical Madness look the biggest threats.

NB – Limato – 16:20 Royal Ascot

The Henry Candy-Ryan Moore combination took the Diamond Jubilee 12 months ago with Twilight Son and we’re backing them to do the same with the well-fancied Limato.

His 10th in the Al Quoz Sprint is easily excused given the ground that day and this firmer surface will certainly suit better.

Last season’s Group 1 successes, including in the 6f July Cup, set the standard while his previous performances at this track have all been very respectable.

The Tin Man is an obvious danger based on his Champions Sprint victory while Tasleet and The Right Man have recent form in the book.

However, this looks like it could be another sweet day for Candy and co.

Lively Longshot – Muntadab – 17:00 Royal Ascot

This week’s big-field handicaps have been as you’d expect – tricky. But in Muntadab we’re hoping we can end the meeting on a high with a winner at a price.

Once again we’re backing Crowley to do the business although this horse has plenty more in its favour besides the jockey booking.

For starters, we’ve seen 29 double-figure price winners since 1980 while 15 of the previous 17 were aged four or five and eight of the last 11 came from a a double-figure stall, including each of the previous seven.

So, this five-year-old certainly ticks a few boxes.

With regards to form, the Roger Fell-trained charge has hit the crossbar on each of his three runs this term but this could be the day he finally gets his head in front.

ITV Racing Tips:

14:30 – Masar

15:05 – Khairaat

15:40 – Dartmouth

16:20 – Limato

17:00 – Muntadab EW

17:35 – Qewy
