Odds slashed on West Ham United signing Man City outcast Hart
It’s rare that a goalkeeper with two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, four Premier League golden gloves and 71 England caps is readily available, but that’s Joe Hart this summer.
The former Shrewsbury Town ace has little intention of sticking around at Manchester City, where it’s clear he won’t be in Pep Guardiola’s plans.
As for where he goes this summer, the latest odds shift suggests West Ham United are about to be major contenders.
The Hammers’ number one role was shared between Adrian and Darren Randolph last season.
But it’s widely regarded that signing Hart would represent a sizeable step in quality between the sticks.
A sticking point however is Man City’s £18m asking price, with Hart only having two years left to run on his current deal.
It may be that price tag which has ensured no concrete offers have yet come in for the England international.
But reports today suggest the London Stadium outfit are looking to pounce on Hart’s current uncertainty – albeit with a twist.
It’s believed the Hammers want a loan deal for next season, where they will pay the 30-year-old’s wages.
And only next summer will they then fork out on a transfer fee, by which time Hart will have just 12 months left on his contract.
It’s not yet known what the Citizens make of the proposal, but our traders have slashed West Ham’s chances from 14/1 to 4/1.
They’re now second in the betting, just behind 3/1 favourites Everton.
