Odds slashed on Boris Johnson becoming Prime Minister next month

| 02.06.2017

In the latest twist to this snap General Election, Boris Johnson’s odds on becoming Prime Minister have been slashed.

The Foreign Secretary, who ruled himself out of the running to succeed David Cameron last summer, had been a 100/1 shot to become Prime Minister on July 1.

But today those odds have tumbled into just 25/1.

Matthew Shaddick, Head of Political Betting at Ladbrokes, said: “Perhaps the most interesting market to watch over the past couple days is the odds of Boris Johnson being Prime Minister on 1 July.

The Foreign Secretary has become more visible in recent days and his odds have dropped from 100/1 to 25/1.”

“Ahead of another set of interviews this evening, we’re not expecting significant movements in the odds. However, we are offering 33/1 on Theresa May not showing up.”
