ITV Racing Tips: Scenery can land Plate success at Newcastle

The action comes thick and fast this Saturday with the ITV Racing cameras set to broadcast seven live races as part of a packed programme. 

Newmarket and Newcastle are the two tracks in the spotlight with the historic Northumberland Plate at the latter taking centre stage.

First run in 1833, the 2m contest remains a jewel in the crown of the North East racing scene. And once again the big betting heat has served up plenty of questions.

Here’s our look across the whole ITV card…

NAP – Home Of The Brave – 15:15 Newmarket

This looks a cracking Criterion Stakes renewal with cases to be made for a number of the market principals.

However, we’re going to stick with the jolly, Home Of The Brave. 

The Hugo Palmer-trained charge beat last week’s Diamond Jubilee Stakes runner-up Tasleet over 7f on his seasonal return.

And this previous black type winner looks to have plenty in his favour heading into this latest assignment.

NB – Natural Scenery – 15:30 Newcastle

It could be a pretty lucrative half an hour should Natural Scenery do the business in the Northumberland Plate.

We think the Godolphin filly has every chance of justifying our support having won three of her six races on the All-Weather, including a decent contest over course and distance back in February.

She didn’t get the run of the race at Lingfield last time out but keep the faith and trust in this well-drawn, hardy type to deliver.

Lively Longshot – Graceland – 15:00 Newcastle

There’s plenty to like about those heading the market for this consolation Northumberland Vase. However, we looking further down the list at Graceland. 

Michael Bell’s five-year-old mare is reliable enough, having finished in the top two on five of her last eight starts.

Her penultimate outing resulted in a runner-up place at York over this Vase trip so stamina shouldn’t be an issue and neither should the surface.
