Germany v Mexico: Stats suggest Semi will produce plenty of goals

Published:

We’re down to the last four in the Confederations Cup, and on Thursday night it’s Germany and Mexico battling for a place in the Final. And while the winner of this game is a tough one to call, we can all-but-guarantee that there’ll be goals, goals, goals.

Joachim Low’s men have seen 17 goals fly in during the last four games, while Mexico’s last three outings saw the net bulge on 10 occasions. That means the 17/20 for Over 2.5 Goals looks like great value, while the ambitious can get 21/10 on Over 3.5.

However, if you’re after a really safe selection, then look no further than Both Teams to Score at 7/10. The pair’s last six games combined have seen both teams register on every occasion.

So, who do we fancy to get amongst the goals?

For Die Mannschaft, it’s hard to look past Timo Werner. The RB Leipzig striker netted 21 times in the Bundesliga last term, and has two goals already at this tournament.

The 21-year-old is 13/8 to score anytime, while 6/1 says he scores twice or more for the fourth time in eight games for club and country.

As for El Tricolor, the value could be on Hirving Lozano to score at 3/1, with the Pachuca forward netting in two of the national side’s last five games.

In the match betting, Germany are 21/20 favourites to win in normal time, with Mexico 13/5 and 5/2 on offer for this game to reach extra time.

However, if the World Cup holders do net first, we’re still not writing El Tricolor off.

Juan Carlos Osorio’s men have come from behind to secure victory in each of their last two games, as well as grabbing a draw against Portugal in the Group Stage, having trailed twice. So at 16/1, Mexico to win from behind and win could prove to be a truly inspired bet.
