70% of punters back Corbyn but Tories still big Election favs

Value-seeking political punters have backed the Labour Party in their droves but the Conservatives remain big favourites to win this year’s General Election. 

That’s according to the latest word from our trading department with Jeremy Corbyn and co. reportedly a popular choice with those looking to get more bang for their buck.

Around 70% of all bets are backing Corbyn to be the next Prime Minister, however, the odds certainly aren’t in the Labour leader’s favour.

And no matter what the outcome of this year’s vote there’s bound to be plenty of speculation around the respective party heads in the aftermath.

Matthew Shaddick, Head of Political Betting at Ladbrokes, said: “Since the election was announced 70% of all bets at Ladbrokes are backing Jeremy Corbyn to become Prime Minister. However, our odds still favour a Conservative majority of around 70 and turnout between 60 and 65 per cent.

“Certainly over the past couple of days we’ve been taking bets on events after the election. Amber Rudd is now favourite to succeed Theresa May as the next Tory leader at 5/1, Yvette Cooper still in poll to replace Jeremy Corbyn at 5/2 and likewise Jo Swinson to succeed Tim Farron.”

The Tories are just 1/10 to win the Most Seats while Theresa May is a skinny 2/9 to cling to power.
