4/1 for any Prem side to break 96-points record (& more specials)

Published:

We’re only 46 days away from the start of a new Premier League campaign (yes, we’re counting), and ahead of another campaign full of twists and turns, we’ve priced up a flurry of fantastic specials on England’s top flight.

First off, there’s 4/1 on offer for any side to set a new points record for the division. Chelsea’s class of 2004-05 currently hold that record, with 95 points. So to break that record, any side would need over 2.5 per points per game. The question is, can anyone do it?

Another record the Blues racked up that season was Petr Cech’s 21 clean sheets – the most managed by any Premier League keeper in history. It’s 9/2 we see that feat bettered in 2017-18.

Elsewhere, we make it 9/1 for any side to follow in the footsteps of Arsenal’s Invincibles by ending the season without defeat.

However, we think the best value could be on the 8/1 for any side NOT in European competition to win the Premier League, with Leicester City and Chelsea having done just that in the last two seasons.

But not all of our specials are focused on Prem success.

There’s 5/1 on offer for any side to achieve the dubious honour of a record-low points total, ‘beating’ Derby County’s 2007-08 haul of a meagre 11 points.

Fans of Huddersfield Town and Brighton & Hove Albion will be hoping that bet doesn’t come in – with their sides deemed the likeliest to face the drop this season.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Interest in the new Premier League campaign is really heating up right now, and our traders are fancying a few records to be broken throughout the season.”

“That 5/1 on any side recording a lesser points tally than Derby County suggests Huddersfield or Brighton could be in for a tough time of things, while at 4/1 we’d hardly be surprised to see any side picking up 96 points or more.”
