West Brom re-open talks with Leeds United over freebie full-back

Charlie Taylor will have been very confident about playing Premier League football with Leeds United until his side’s hopes of promotion from the Championship were ended last weekend.

But while the Yorkshire outfit will have to wait at least another year before they make it to the top-flight, Taylor’s dream may well come true as early as this summer.

West Bromwich Albion have been keeping tabs on the left-back for a while now, and were close to completing a deal last year.

However, it looks as though Tony Pulis may finally get his man – who’ll be available on a free when his contract runs out at the end of the season.

The Welshman has been forced into fielding Allan Nyom and Chris Brunt on the left-hand side of his defence for much of this campaign – despite neither boasting much experience in that area of the field.

So we can be sure the Baggies will be on the lookout for a left-back when the transfer window opens – and Pulis will struggle to find better value than Taylor.

The 23-year-old has featured on 29 occasions for Leeds this season, providing four assists for his teammates. But a 3-3 draw against Norwich City last time out ensured the Peacocks would finish outside of the Championship play-off spots for yet another year.

Garry Monk’s men will be hoping to go one better next campaign – but will Taylor be around to play a part?
