Watford v Man City: Pep’s men won’t be taking any chances

Published:

Manchester City will travel to Watford on the final day of the season with a top four spot all but guaranteed. However, that’s not to see they won’t go all out in this tie at Vicarage Road – Pep Guardiola’s men will want to end this season with a bang.

Watford announced earlier this week that this would be Walter Mazzarri’s last game in charge of the club, so it’ll be interesting to see how he rallies his troops for one final push.

The hosts are 11/1 unlikely outsiders to take all three points from this one and bring their campaign tally to 43, while 2/9 says the Citizens make it six wins on the bounce in all competitions against the Hornets.

City came out 2-0 winners when this pair met earlier on in the season at the Etihad, with Pablo Zabaleta and David Silva both getting on the scoresheet.

It’s 6/1 for another 2-0 win, while 23/10 says Silva finds the net at any time.

Watford have lost their last six matches in the top-flight, conceding 11 goals in the process, while City have won five of their last seven Prem games, netting 18 times.

It’s also worth noting that we’ve paid out in the Man City -1 market of five of their last six league wins, meaning there could be some value in the 8/13 on offer for Pep’s men to win by two goals or more.

As for goalscorers, Gabriel Jesus is fast becoming City’s main man up-front, and he’s 14/5 to net first here, while Troy Deeney (10/1) is the most likely player for the hosts to get the ball rolling.

At 1/50, it’s safe to say Man City will end the season in the top four, but maybe – just maybe – Watford will upset the applecart.
