Punters take sides with Best Solution and Permian backed for the Derby

This year’s Epsom Derby is fast approaching and punters are starting to take sides and form solid opinions, according to the latest odds. 

Craven Stakes winner Eminent has been cut to 7/1 (from 8/1) this morning and is one our traders are very much keen to keep on side.

Derby Trial winner Cracksman is another we’re keeping tabs on at 4/1, although the John Gosden-trained colt has ceded favouritism to Dee Stakes hero and new antepost jolly, Cliffs of Moher (7/2). 

• However, the aforementioned trio aren’t the only ones being backed. Punters have also been latching onto Godolphin’s Best Solution (12/1 form 14/1) and Dante Stakes winner Permian (14/1 from 16/1).

Both are currently top price at Ladbrokes.com.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said; “In what seems to be a weak Derby, punters are now looking at backing bigger-priced trial winners. Both Best Solution and Permian have proved really popular in recent days but despite the support, we are still happy to take them on and be top price.

“We have been most impressed by Eminent and Cracksman and are keeping them on side.”
