Odds slashed on Monaco boss replacing Wenger at Arsenal

When will Arsene Wenger finally leave Arsenal? It’s a question no one has the answer to at the moment – although we’re expected to hear more on his future in the coming weeks.

But that hasn’t stopped our traders from pricing up his replacement.

It’s a market which has been headed by Juventus boss Max Allegri for months now, with the prospect of the Italian taking over at the Emirates sure to excite Gooners. He’s still favourite for the position at 9/2, but the rest of the pack are closing in on him.

Eddie Howe’s name has also been mentioned by plenty of fans and pundits alike, although the general view is that this is perhaps too big a step for the young manager so early in his career. And the latest odds suggest that’s the case, with 10/1 on offer for the Bournemouth manager to replace Wenger.

But more interestingly, we’ve seen Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim’s odds cut substantially in recent weeks.

Having been a 12/1 shot back in April, the Venezuelan is now as short as 5/1, following reports that the Gunners have made him their top target.

They’d be right to do just that, too. He’s worked wonders with the French outfit this year, who are now just four points away from lifting the Ligue 1 table for the first time in 17 years. In fact, 5/1 is the shortest he’s been in this market, but could we see those odds fall even further in the coming months?

More excitingly for Arsenal though is the contacts Jardim has, and the potential arrivals who could follow him to North London.

We reported yesterday that the Gunners were second-favourites at 5/2 to land wonderkid Kylian Mbappe in the summer. And it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that those odds would fall substantially were Jardim to take the hot seat.

Allegri and Jardim are joined at the head of the market by Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone (6/1and former Arsenal skipper,Patrick Vieira (13/2). The latter has spent over a year as head coach of New York City, and is expected to take a step into management in England in the near future.

But will that be with the Gunners?
