Odds slashed on Everton hitman heading to Man United

Chelsea may face some very tough competition for the signature of Romelu Lukaku – in the form of Manchester United.

The Red Devils have seen their odds of signing the Belgian ace tumble from 7/1 to 3/1, with Jose Mourinho’s men now narrowly behind favourites Chelsea in the betting.

Lukaku is enjoying the best football of his career so far, having netted a stellar 24 times in the Premier League this term, including a four-goal haul in February’s 6-3 victory over Bournemouth.

But at just 23-years-old, there’s every reason to believe the Antwerp native will continue to improve. The question is, who will reap the benefits?

Former side Chelsea are currently the club most likely to secure his services at 5/2, but with Man United seeing their odds cut by more than half, they could soon edge into favouritism.

And while a move to the Premier League’s champions-elect could prove too tough for most players to resist, talk is that Lukaku has his doubts about playing in Antonio Conte’s system. And that could play right into the hands of Jose.

Elsewhere, Bayern Munich are the most fancied of the Belgian’s continental suitors at 4/1, with Manchester City 7/1 shots to add the powerful forward to their ranks.

However, despite both being linked with the former Anderlecht striker at one time or another, the bookies have all but written off a move to North London, with Arsenal (16/1) and Tottenham (18/1) the rank outsiders in this market.
