Man United and Tottenham lead the way in summer of reunions

We saw last summer just how costly it can be for a side to allow one of their players to leave only to sign them back just a few years later. Paul Pogba joined Juventus on a free transfer in 2012 before parting ways with £89m to bring him back to Old Trafford four years later.

And we’re preparing for even more reunions when the transfer window opens this summer.

Granted, they may not be as expensive as the aforementioned example, but the latest rumours are suggesting that United are looking into the possibility of bringing another former youth product back home.

Step forward, Michael Keane.

The Burnley defender has been in fine form this season and has even received an England call-up. Of course, that’s added plenty to his price tag, and it’s thought Jose Mourinho would have to spend in excess of £30m for his services.

That could represent decent value for money though, in truth. Still aged just 24, Keane’s best years are very much ahead of him.

The question is, will they be spent at United?

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing for a reunion of their own in the shape of Gylfi Sigurdsson.

While things didn’t exactly go according to plan for the Iceland international during his first stint with Spurs, the 27-year-old has been in blistering form this year for Premier League strugglers Swansea City, registering nine goals and 13 assists.

And if it’s strength in depth Tottenham are looking for this summer, Sigurdsson certainly ticks a lot of boxes.

With Swansea managing to maintain their top-flight status for another season, they’ve avoided losing their main man on the cheap, meaning Spurs will need to cough up anything around the £25m mark to secure a deal.

But would that be money well spent? Have your say in the comments section below!
