Man City lead race to snap up ex-Man United and Barcelona keeper

It’s fair to say that Pep Guardiola’s signing of Barcelona stopper Claudio Bravo hasn’t gone as planned. But the Manchester City boss could be set to reunite with another former Barca stopper…in the form of Victor Valdes.

The Spaniard is now just 2/1 to join the Sky Blues, making them favourites for his signature.

He initially left the Nou Camp in 2014 to join the Citizens’ local rivals Manchester United, but signed for Middlesbrough last summer following a lack of game time at Old Trafford.

And despite Boro’s relegation from the Premier League, the 35-year-old has chalked up nine clean sheets in 28 league games – and has been arguably the key factor in helping the Teesside outfit to the best defensive record outside of the top 10.

But with Steve Agnew’s men now resigned to the Championship next season, he’s sure to move, and City are frontrunners for his signature – with 9/4 for a move to the Etihad to take place this summer.

Malaga are next in the betting at 5/2 to be Valdes’ next club, while fellow La Liga outfit Deportivo La Coruna are 5/1 shots to snap up the L’Hospitalet native.

Everton are second-best of the Premier League pack at 8s, with Liverpool 10/1 and a sensational return to the Nou Camp priced up at 12/1.

However, our traders have effectively laughed off a return to Manchester United, with a hefty 20/1 for the former Red Devils stopper to return to M16.
