Jim Duffy named the Ladbrokes Championship Manager of the Season
Published:Greenock Morton manager Jim Duffy has been named the Ladbrokes Championship Manager of the Season after leading his side into the play-offs in 2016-17.
The Ton finished the season in fourth position, four points ahead of nearest challengers Dunfermline Athletic.
They eventually succumbed to a Premiership play-off quarter-final defeat to hot fancies Dundee United. However, the most recent campaign has to be considered a huge success.
Duffy led the Cappielow club to the League 1 title in 2014-15 and fifth place in the second-tier last season.
And his side’s further progress this term has seen the 58-year-old Glaswegian recognised with the Manager of the Season accolade.
Morton enjoyed a number of high points during the most recent campaign, notably defeating rivals St. Mirren 3-1 at Cappielow back in November.
That victory came during a seven-match unbeaten run with a 5-0 thrashing of Queen of the South also featuring in that sequence.
Overall, it’s been another breakthrough season for Duffy and a number of his stars with this award just desserts for the gaffer’s efforts.
Congratulations Jim!
