ITV Racing Tips: We’re sticking with 2000 Guineas hopeful Eminent

Classic champions will be crowned this weekend with the 2000 Guineas and the 1000 Guineas taking centre stage.

The boys are the focus of this particular preview ahead of this year’s 2000 renewal at Newmarket.

Will Dewhurst Stakes winner Churchill oblige for favourite backers in the big one or can a lively outsider spring a surprise, much like Galileo Gold did in 2016?

The ITV Racing cameras will be on hand at HQ and Goodwood this Saturday with six live races set to be shown on terrestrial television.

Here are our top tips…

NAP – Seventh Heaven – 14:55 Newmarket

Aidan O’Brien’s filly takes on the boys in this interesting renewal of the 1m4f Jockey Club Stakes. Ryan Moore is booked to ride onboard Seventh Heaven and having taken this in two of the last three years you can already start to see the positives.

Her eye-catching second in the Dubai Sheema Classic last time out is the standout piece of form here and if last season’s Yorkshire Oaks winner can continue in a similar vein she’ll be tough to beat.

Rival Across The Stars is trained by Sir Michael Stoute, a winner of this contest eight times before. And while he has useful form in the book we reckon the fast ground will catch him out.

NB – Eminent – 15:35 Newmarket

It won’t be lost on Ladbrokes News readers that Eminent was our longshot tip for the Craven Stakes.

And we’re not about to desert the Martyn Meade-trained charge.

This is by no means betting with our heart either.

The selection is an impressive course and distance winner and the way he handled the Rowley Mile has to be respected.

Of course, champion two-year-old Churchill is a threat while the Godolphin pair of Barney Roy and Dream Castle are not without claims.

But we’re keeping Eminent onside in what looks a high-class edition of the Guineas.

Lively Longshot – Muthmir – 14:20 Newmarket

This isn’t an easy puzzle to solve, few 5f races of this nature are, but we’re prepared to have an each-way flutter on Muthmir.

The Group 2 winner came up short last year but has plenty of form in the book and in champion jockey Jim Crowley he’ll be partnered by an excellent pilot.

Last year’s winner Profitable is the obvious choice but our pick will relish the ground, much like he did when obliging at Bath on his seasonal reappearance.

14:05 Goodwood – Dubka

14:20 Newmarket – Muthmir EW
