Final fixtures make Real Madrid shoe-in to beat Barcelona to title

Published:

Barcelona and Real Madrid are locked on 84 points in La Liga. Blaugrana are comfortably ahead on goal difference, but Los Blancos have a game in hand.

And we think the remaining fixtures for both sides point to Real edging their opponents to top spot.

So, here’s a look at what remains for the pair, beginning with Luis Enrique’s men.

Barcelona (Played: 36 / Points: 84 / GD: +74)

First up is a meeting with Las Palmas at Estadio de Gran Canaria on Sunday. With Los Amarillos currently sitting in 14th spot, this should be an easy fixture for Barca, right?

Wrong.

Quique Setien’s men have taken points from two of their last five meetings with Barca, while the Catalonian giants have won by a single goal on two other occasions. With 10 points from their last five home games, the hosts may well scupper Barcelona’s plans once again.

As for Eibar’s final-day visit to the Nou Camp, Blaugrana should win this. But their opponents did take a point at the Bernabeu earlier this term, and have lost just three of their last 10 away games.

Whatever Real do, this won’t be plain sailing for Enrique’s side.

Real Madrid (Played: 35 / Points: 84 / GD: +57)

Los Blancos may have the added pressure of Champions League football, but that’s unlikely to affect their league form. Zinedine Zidane’s side have their Semi-Final against Atletico Madrid more-or-less wrapped up after the first leg, while the UCL final arrives 13 days after the last day of the La Liga campaign.

First up in the league is a meeting with a Sevilla side who have seriously gone off the boil since Spring began, winning just three of their last 12 games in all competitions.

Oh, and Real have beaten them 11 times in a row at the Bernabeu, including a 3-0 win in the last meeting here.

That’s followed by a meeting with a Celta Vigo side currently on a five-game losing streak, having scored once in that period.

And as for the final day, that sees Real face a Malaga side they’ve taken 20 points from in the past eight meetings. We think they’ll be just fine.

Top Bets:
