Fear not, Blackburn fans – 10/1 says you breeze League One, 11/4 to go up

Published:

That’s football in a nutshell. Blackburn Rovers went about their game plan excellently, managing a hard-fought 3-1 victory against an in-form Brentford side away from home. But it wasn’t enough to keep them in the Championship.

Unfortunately for Tony Mowbray’s men, fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City both grabbed three points in a tense final day, sealing Rovers’ fate.

But our traders have been busy working in-play on a couple of specials that are sure to raise spirits in Lancashire.

For starters, we’re offering odds of 10/1 for Blackburn to bounce back at the first time of asking with a League One title under their belt.

They’ll face stiff competition from the likes of Rotherham United, Wigan Athletic, and three of the sides still currently battling it out in the play-offs – but the early signs point towards Mowbray’s side dominating the league.

It’s likely there’ll be plenty of change at Ewood Park over the coming weeks and months. Loanees will return to their parent clubs while standout players will undoubtedly be sold on.

But if they spend wisely in the transfer market, there’s no reason they can’t find themselves back in the Championship at the first time of asking.

They’ve certainly looked more stable under Tony Mowbray than they have under anyone else in recent years – so one of their main priorities will be keeping hold of the former Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion boss.

Since taking over, Rovers have managed to pick up 22 points from 15 games.

In fact, that return is better than half of the teams in the division – including Leeds United, Norwich City and Huddersfield Town.

That’s certainly something worth shouting about – as is the fact that they’re just 11/4 for an immediate return to the second tier of English football.
