Falkirk v Dundee United: Expect Bairns to win goal-filled encounter

Published:

We tipped up a close-run, goal-filled affair between Falkirk and Dundee United in the first leg of their Ladbrokes Premiership play-off Semi-Final, and that’s exactly what we got. But the stats suggest the Bairns will dominate the second leg.

Peter Houston’s men won comfortably in each of the two prior meetings at Falkirk Stadium, breezing to 3-0 and 3-1 wins respectively.

That means backing Falkirk -1 looks very worthwhile at odds of 16/5.

One thing we are guaranteed is goals. The Bairns have scored in every game of their current seven-match unbeaten run, but have kept just one clean sheet in the process.

As for Ray McKinnon’s men, they’ve scored in each of their last six games, but have managed only one shut-out along the way.

With the hosts having the better of this fixture on home soil, we also fancy Houston’s men to win and Both Teams to Score at 3/1.

Meanwhile, having scored two or more in four of their last five games, the 21/20 for the Bairns to net Over 1.5 Goals in this second leg looks well-priced.

So, who can you expect to see amongst the goals?

For the hosts, defender Aaron Muirhead has been making a big impact at the opposite end, registering in two of their last four outings. And it’s 13/2 for the penalty specialist to net again here.

As for the Tangerines, Simon Murray is on a three-game scoring run, and he’s chalked up the opener in each of their last two games. The former Arbroath hitman is 9/4 to register anytime, while 7/1 says he’s the first goalscorer here.

In the match betting, Falkirk are 21/20 favourites to win in 90 minutes, with Dundee United 9/4 shots and 12/5 for level pegging.
