Everton favourites for West Ham ace, but Spurs should be keeping tabs

Published:

On the whole, it’s been a fairly unconvincing campaign for West Ham United, with Slaven Bilic’s men having spent the majority of the season in the bottom-half of the table. There has been one shining light in East London though, and he goes by the name Manuel Lanzini.

The 24-year-old has been in fine form for the Hammers this year, and has upped his game considerably following Dimitri Payet’s departure back in January.

In fact, 80% of the goals he’s been involved in this season have come since Payet left for Marseille.

Of course, that’s left plenty of clubs reportedly keen on making a move for the Argentine, although Everton are clear favourites at 5/4 to seal a deal.

Toffees boss Ronald Koeman may have to accept that two of his key players, Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley, will move on this summer meaning he’ll have to bring in solid replacements – preferably with Premier League experience. With that in mind, Lanzini certainly ticks plenty of boxes.

Newcastle United are next in the running at 4/1 to sign the versatile midfielder as they look to establish themselves as a comfortable top-flight outfit once again.

But it’s the 8/1 on a move to Tottenham Hotspur which interests us more than anything.

Mauricio Pochettino will have to add strength in depth this summer if his side are to mount a serious title challenge AND compete in the Champions League. And Lanzini’s versatility would certainly be of use to the North London outfit.

Plus, they’ve already seen on several occasions in the past just how good he can be, having scored in three of his four meetings with Spurs over the last two seasons.

We wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Poch make a move for his fellow countrymen this summer, and as far as we’re concerned that’s where the value lies.

But where do you think Lanzini will be plying his trade on the opening day of next season?
