Everton and West Brom in for Montpellier ace but odds tip Newcastle
It hasn’t been a great year for Montpellier, and the latest reports claim a queue of clubs are chasing their star man, Ryad Boudebouz.
The 27-year-old attacking midfielder has impressed this season, notching 11 goals and nine assists to comfortably become Montpellier’s main man.
But his performances have attracted admiring glances from far and wdfe, and the French outfit look set to lose Boudebouz this summer.
It’s believed Montpellier will be willing to sell for any offers around £8.5m, a handy return on the £1.5m they spent to bring him in from Bastia in 2015.
But with another two years on his contract and a valuation on transfermarkt.co.uk of £6.3m, any fee could well rise above £10m.
Especially if a bidding war breaks out.
Premier League returnees Newcastle are widely known to have handed boss Rafael Benitez a summer budget of at least £70m.
So it’s no surprise to see the Magpies chalked up as favourites for Boudebouz’s signature at 3/1.
West Brom are next in the betting at 4/1, as Tony Pulis looks to build on his side’s attacking options.
Lyon are right in the mix too at 9/2, with the former French champions eager to return to their glory days.
And Stoke, who already boast the flair and creativity of Xherdan Shaqiri and Marko Arnautovic are in the hunt at 11/2.
Our traders don’t much fancy Everton though, with the Toffees fifth favourites at 6/1, despite being linked with the Algerian in today’s press.
Rounding out the competitors are Swansea at 7/1, although those odds will surely tumble if they lose Gylfi Sigurdsson this summer and need a replacement for the Iceland international.
