Dundee United v Hamilton: Expect goals in Tannadice encounter

Published:

Having seen off Greenock Morton and Falkirk already in the Ladbrokes Premiership play-offs, can Dundee United secure an incredible promotion, or will Hamilton Academical hold onto their top-flight status for another season?

The first leg at Tannadice is likely to give us some clues, and the stats suggest it will throw up plenty of goals as well.

Seven of the last 10 meetings between the pair have produced three goals or more. As for recent form, six of United’s last seven games have produced at least three goals, while Hamilton’s last two outings alone have seen the net bulge nine times.

So the 21/20 for Over 2.5 goals looks well worth backing.

On that note, with the pair scoring in 12 of their last 14 games combined, the 5/6 for Both Teams to Score looks generously priced at 5/6.

Goals look guaranteed. But which players are best odds to register?

For the hosts, Simon Murray is surely the man to back. The lively forward has registered in each of their last four games, and he’s 21/10 to make it five in a row.

As for Accies, pacy forward Rakish Bingham is beginning to find his best form after a patchy campaign, and you can get 13/5 on him netting for a third successive match.

In the match betting, it’s hard to separate the sides – especially as they haven’t faced one another in over a year.

Our traders have United down as 11/10 favourites to win on the night, with 12/5 for a Hamilton victory and 11/5 available for the draw.

If the hosts are to triumph, though, we reckon they’ll do the damage after the break. Ray McKinnon’s men have won the second half in three of their last four games, so we like the 29/20 for 2nd Half Result: Dundee United.
