Coleman and Ranieri favourites as Allardyce quits Crystal Palace

Chris Coleman and Claudio Ranieri are the early favourites to become the next Crystal Palace manager.

It comes amid reports from Daily Mail Sport that current Eagles boss Sam Allardyce has informed the club he wants to quit.

The former Bolton boss was allegedly seeking certain assurances from club owner Steve Parish before committing to the club.

Allardyce only joined the Selhurst Park outfit in December on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

But in six months with the South London club Big Sam ensured the Eagles remained in the Premier League.

Current Wales boss Chris Coleman leads the betting at 11/4, and the Welshman is well-known south of the Thames thanks to a four-year stint as a player with the Eagles in the 1990s.

Claudio Ranieri is next up at 4/1, and the Italian of course brings a superb dose of Premier League experience, having lead Leicester to a famous title in 2016.

The market then drifts to David Moyes, who quit Sunderland on Monday, at 9/1.

Nigel Pearson and Steve McClaren are also 9/1 shots.

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez sits alongside Ryan Giggs at 12/1, with Roberto Mancini and Roy Hodgson the outside punts at 16/1 and 25/1 respectively.

And as for Allardyce’s next move, it’s just 3/1 he makes a swift return to Sunderland.
