BREAKING: Garry Monk resigns at Leeds – Aitor Karanka 11/8 favourite

Published:

It’s turning into a busy week for managers in England, and Garry Monk has followed David Moyes and Sam Allardyce in resigning.

The former Swansea City boss announced his immediate departure from Leeds United, just a day after the club announced that Andrea Radrizzani had taken over ownership from Massimo Cellino.

Monk had been widely praised for his efforts with the Whites this term, bringing much-needed stability.

But a late-season dip in form saw the Elland Road outfit miss out on the Championship play-offs and a potential return to the Premier League.

Former Middlesbrough coach Aitor Karanka is the early favourite to succeed Monk at 11/8.

And in truth our traders feel the Spaniard is the only name in the frame at this stage.

Alan Pardew and Nigel Pearson are next in the market, but odds of 7/1 emphasise how strongly Karanka is ahead in the betting.

Claudio Ranieri is in at 9/1, ahead of Moyes and former Leeds striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, each at 10s.

Steve McClaren is a 12/1 shot, with Paul Lambert at 14/1.
