After a quite dismal Premier League campaign – ending in relegation – David Moyes has resigned as Sunderland manager.

And our traders have made Ryan Giggs the early favourite for the post.

The former Manchester United hero is 9/2 market leader to take up the job on Wearside, ahead of former Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew at 5/1.

Those two lead the betting, with Nigel Pearson and Garry Monk next up at 8/1 apiece.

There are plenty of names in the frame, including David Wagner and Aitor Karanka, who are each a 10/1 chance.

Former hero Kevin Phillips is 14/1 to be handed the reigns, while fellow ex-Black Cats Julio Arca and Stefan Schwarz are 20/1 shots.

Sunderland were relegated this season with just 24 points, and relied on 34-year-old Jermain Defoe for over half of their Premier League goals.
