Bradford v Fleetwood: Bantams favourites to edge first-leg

Published:

Both Bradford City and Fleetwood Town have been through a lot in the 21st century, but now they meet for the chance to play Championship football next season.
The Bantams began this millennium in the Premier League, but were in League Two by 2007.
Meanwhile the Cod Army have been on the opposite trajectory, rising through the football pyramid to be League One regulars.
The Lancashire outfit are looking to reach the second tier for the first time in their history, while Bradford are looking to return to it for the first time since 2004.
Our traders make Stuart McCall’s side 20/23 favourites for the first-leg at Valley Parade, with Uwe Rosler’s visitors 10/3 outsiders.
Both sides head into this game in decent form. Bradford have lost just twice in 14 games since a 2-1 defeat to Fleetwood at Highbury.
But the Cod Army can boast just three losses in 29 league games – with just one away reverse since mid-November.
So with all that in mind, the best angle here may well be the draw at 12/5.
Bradford may have conceded just once in their last five home games, but in Fleetwood they host a side who have netted in all bar one of the fixtures away from Highbury – including the league meeting at Valley Parade in September.
Somewhat surprisingly though, these two sides were the lowest scorers in the top ten this season, so that points us towards under 2.5 goals at 4/7.
And if you put a draw and a low-scoring contest together, 0-0 can be backed at 13/2, but our pick of 1-1 looks good at 11/2.
