BGT Betting Update: Angelicus Celtis latest to impress punters

Published:

Another week has passed and we’ve been treated to even more contestants, each hopeful of winning this year’s Britain’s Got Talent. But who has attracted interest over the last few days?

For yet another week, The Missing People Choir head the market as 5/2 favourites, but plenty are beginning to close in on the long-time frontrunners.

And there’s also another choir attracting interest.

Step forward, Angelicus Celtis.

The schoolgirls received a standing ovation from the audience AND all four judges on last Saturday night’s episode, and have been installed as 8/1 shots to go all the way this year.

But here’s one for the superstitious punters out there – Nessun Dorma (the song they performed) was also Paul Potts’ audition song way back in 2007. He later went on to win the competition outright.

Wouldn’t it be fitting, 10 years on, for the same audition song to have a similar result?

As far as last week’s contestants go – that’s pretty much it in terms of acts who have a genuine chance of winning.

In fact, of the 12 frontrunners (taking us to Sian Pattison at 16/1), 11 featured in the first four weeks.

We have seen some money come in for second-favourite Sarah Ikumu, whose odds have been cut from 9/2 into 4/1 over the last two days, following a relatively poor week in the way of standout auditions.

Despite being awarded a Golden Buzzer by Ant & Dec, mischievous magician, Matt Edwards, is yet to strike a chord with punters and remains an unlikely 18/1 shot for BGT glory.
