Arsenal miss out on top four, #WengerOut is trending
Published:Results didn’t go Arsenal’s way on the final day of the 2016-17 Premier League season with the Gunners now resigned to missing out on Champions League football next term.
And with that, the predictable #WengerOut hashtag has resurfaced.
In the three-way race for the top four, Manchester City blitzed Watford 5-0 while the North London club’s nearest rivals Liverpool got the job done when seeing off already relegated Middlesbrough 3-0 at Anfield.
And despite 10-man Arsenal holding on to beat Everton 3-1 at the Emirates, it’s now confirmed that Arsene Wenger’s side will have to prepare themselves for the Europa League in 2017-18.
It’s the first time in the Frenchman’s 20 full seasons that he’s failed to guide the Gunners into the continent’s elite competition.
And now he must face the wrath of Gooners up and down the land, with one notorious celebrity fan particularly unhappy.
Over to you, Piers…
Dumped out of CL in 10-2 thrashing.
18pts behind PL Champions.
11pts behind Spurs.
5th.
Europa League next season. #WengerOUT— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) May 21, 2017
Imagine having your worst year at work in 20yrs & being rewarded with a new £20 million contract?
