Arsenal just 5/1 to win Europa League next year – with or without Wenger

Arsenal odds

For the first time in 21 years, Arsenal will head into a season with no Champions League football to contest. But while fans will still be getting over that news, we’ve got something to cheer them up…

The Gunners are as short as 5/1 to win next year’s Europa League, which would undoubtedly make them one of the frontrunners for European success when the market opens fully.

A lot could change between now and Arsenal’s first Europa League outing next campaign. For starters, we’re not even sure whether Arsene Wenger will be the man leading the North London outfit’s assault.

The latest odds are suggesting he will be, with 4/9 on offer for him to still be at the Emirates after the summer break.

But will the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil fancy the idea of Thursday night football, knowing that plenty of Champions League clubs will be interested in their services?

The one plus point for Gooners is that a Europa League success would guarantee them a route back into the bigger European tournament in the 2018-19 season. And that’s exactly the approach Jose Mourinho has taken with his Manchester United side this year.

They’re now just one win away from securing themselves a spot in next year’s Champions League despite finishing the season back in sixth place – some seven points off the top four.

So despite what fans will deem a miserable season in North London – the future could be bright. OK, it’s not the biggest trophy in world football – but winning the Europa League would certainly be a step in the right direction for the Gunners.

And at 5/1, our traders clearly think Wenger’s men stand a very good chance of doing exactly that – with or without him.
