Arsenal ace subject of transfer tug-of-war between Man City & Marseille

Arsenal’s season could be about to go from bad to worse, as yet another one of their stars has been linked with a move away from the Emirates.

Forget Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez – the latest reports are suggesting Laurent Koscielny could call time on his career with the Gunners.

It was claimed Ligue 1 outfit Marseille were willing to pay a substantial amount to bring the France international back to his homeland.

But we’re hearing today that Pep Guardiola is keen on bringing the centre-half to Manchester City to strengthen his defensive line.

And that would be terrible news for Gooners, who would be left with Shkodran Mustafi (who is yet to justify his price tag), Rob Holding (still relatively inexperienced), Per Mertesacker (who is fast approaching the latter stages of his career) and Gabriel (a reliable back-up defender at best).

Would that mean manager Arsene Wenger would enter the market to bring in a world-class centre-back in to fill Koscielny’s boots in the summer?

It’s unlikely, given that he spent in excess of £35m to bring Mustafi to North London last year.

However, with a seemingly bottomless pit available to him, Guardiola may make an offer too good to refuse to his top-flight rival – forcing the French gaffer to sell his compatriot.

Koscielny’s potential arrival would undoubtedly and steel and solidity at the back for a City side who’ve already conceded 37 goals this season.

It’s likely the Citizens would have to part ways with something in the region of £20m to secure his services.

But what do fans think? Would that be money well spent for City, and would Arsenal be right to sell Koscielny – regardless of the cost?
