Why now is the best time to back Arsenal for a top four finish

We’re not getting ahead of ourselves here, and this isn’t just because Arsenal impressed in the week against a West Ham side that have now gone five games in a row without picking up a point.

But we think that now is a fantastic time to get on the Gunners grabbing a top four finish by the end of the season.

And at 9/4, we think it could be one of the best bets of the season.

Firstly, the history books tell you all you need to know. They’ve done it for 20 seasons in a row.

Secondly, their fixture list isn’t all that bad. Their next two games are against Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough, who are occupying 16th and 19th spots in the league right now. Win those two and Arsene Wenger’s men are right back in the mix.

Thirdly, Manchester United will almost certainly throw all of their eggs into their Europa League basket in an attempt to qualify for the Champions League.

Their form in the Prem simply hasn’t been good enough. They’re struggling to find a winning formula, and even if they were to win all of their remaining games, their fate still wouldn’t be in their own hands.

But finally, and most importantly, Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has just been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

How have Liverpool coped without the Senegal international in all competitions this season? Not very well.

In fact, in the Premier League they’re winless without him.

He’s undoubtedly been their most influential and consistent player of the season, grabbing 13 goals and six assists in the top-flight.

Quite simply, it’s hard to see how they replace the 24-year-old.

And if we’re assuming Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have already guaranteed themselves two of the top four spots, that leaves Arsenal and Manchester City to snatch the remaining places, as far as we’re concerned.

With that in mind, and with City as short as 1/6 for a top four finish, you’d have to say the 9/4 on the Gunners doing what they do best looks an absolute steal.
